"Visions of India"- a tribute to nation and a blend of different unique music traditions including Colorful Folk, Classical Music, Bollywood Music and Fusion was an attempt of renowned violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam to bring various celebrated artists from different parts of country under one roof to show the unity in diversity and to remember Dr. L. Subramaniam's father Late. Laksmi Narayana.This exceptional music based program enthralled the audiences in capital at Siri Fort Auditorium. This is the first time that a blend of different traditional styles. Program started with various folk blends, first presentation was the Punjabi Folk 'Tu Mane Yana Mane Yaara' by Wadali brothers (Puranchand Wadali & Pyarelal Wadali) they have a diverse repertoire and excel in singing Sufiana qalaam by Baba Farid. Then Purno Das Baul and Dibyendu Das presented Folk from Bengal, and then Rajasthani folk song by Nek Mohammad Langa and Sikander Langa. The musical evening continued with Dr. N. Balamuralikrishna's melodious 'Vatapi Ganpatimbhaje' creating a jugalbandi of Carnatic classical vocal and Violin while with Ambi Subramanium playing Violin. Renowned Ghajal singer Pankaj Udhas rendered his all time favorite 'Chitti Aayi Hai' where some of the audiences got tears in eyes. Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam gave a Bollywood touch to this evening with her most applauded numbers like 'Bijili Girane Main Hu Aayi', Kyon Naye Lagrahe Hai Ye Dharti Gagan' Tumhari Adayonpe Main Vari Vari' and Dora Re Dola Re' etc. Later Dr. L. Subramaniam took charge to drench the audiences in the sweet symphony of folk, classical and western music in his own style. This was a special composition supported by Keyboards, Guitar, Bass, Drums and Indian Percussion. Last but not the least, Dr. L. Subramaniam's talented daughter Bindu Seetaa Subramaniam presented western fusion from her own album 'Let there be love and peace every where'. The penultimate item was performances by all the artists together presenting different folk styles colorfully from the part of India he/ she hails from. That gave a glimpse of Indian Music in its entirety. The program conceived, written and composed by Dr. L. Subramaniam ended with the song 'Vandemataram' sang by all the artists present on the stage, where all the audiences gave a standing ovation. While speaking to media Pankaj Udhas said that, "Visions of India has emerged as a platform for us to give a tribute to the nation, when it's celebrating the completion of the 60 years of Independence". He also thanked Dr. L. Subramaniam for providing such an opportunity. Dr. Subramaniam has amassed over 150 recordings to his credit, releasing several historic solo albums, recording collaborations with musicians Yehudi Menuhin, Stephane Grappelli, Ruggiero Ricci and Jean Pierre Rampal, further to making albums and performing with Steven Seagal, Ruggiero Ricci, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample, Jean-Luc Ponty and several others.
